The flock stays together
in a frozen landscape
Barren
with barely a blade of grass
Why stay?
The words of Eknath Easwaran:
“…most of us are happy to stay where we are. We may even be a bit afraid to venture into the unknown…
…we are meant to explore, to seek, to push the limits of our potential as human beings. The world of the senses is just a base camp: we are meant to be as much at home in consciousness as in the world of physical reality.” Introduction to the The Bhagavad Gita, by Eknath Easwaran
One of the most exhilarating photography days of my life, hopping out of the van in frigid weather to experience a moment of real life in a frozen world, a sheep herder moving his flock to “better pastures.” There is beauty and harshness all at once in this vast land called Patagonia…one best experienced through the soul. It’s a life worth living.
I love dream interpretation so here’s a few symbols:
- Snow: frozen emotions
- Sheep: staying within safety of what is known
